Account & Data Deletion

This page explains how to delete your SousAI account and all associated data, or how to delete individual items without closing your account.

In short: You can delete your account and all data instantly from inside the app — no email or manual review required. Deleting your account removes your profile, recipes, chat history, grocery lists, and preferences immediately. Only minimal security logs are retained briefly (up to 30 days), as required for fraud prevention and legal compliance.

Delete Your Account (Full Deletion)

Deleting your account permanently removes your SousAI profile and all data associated with it. This action cannot be undone.

⭐ Primary — In-app (immediate, self-service)

Open the SousAI app and follow these steps:

Tap the More tab in the bottom navigation to open Settings.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
Read the confirmation dialog listing what will be deleted.
Tap Delete My Account to confirm.

Your account and all data are deleted immediately. You are signed out automatically.

Fallback — Email (for users who have uninstalled the app)

If you no longer have access to the app, email support@sousai.vermaworks.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Include the email address associated with your account. We will process the request within 30 days and confirm by reply.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is removed immediately:

Data type	What is removed
Account	Email address, password credentials, authentication identifiers, and your user profile.
Recipes	All recipes you have saved or created.
Chat threads & messages	All AI chat conversations and message history.
Inventory	All pantry and ingredient inventory entries.
Grocery lists	All grocery list items.
Preferences	Dietary preferences, onboarding answers, and app settings.

What Is Retained (Briefly)

After deletion, we may retain minimal security and diagnostic logs for up to 30 days. These records contain no recipe or chat content — only low-level request metadata used for fraud prevention, abuse detection, and legal compliance. They are purged on a rolling basis and are not used for any other purpose.

We may also retain records we are required to keep under applicable law (e.g. tax records, legal holds). Such records contain no personal cooking or content data.

Delete Individual Items (Without Closing Your Account)

You can delete specific items directly in the app at any time without deleting your account. Each deletion is immediate and permanent.

Item type	How to delete in-app
A recipe	On the My Recipes tab, swipe the recipe left to reveal the trash icon, tap it, then confirm Delete.
A chat	On the My Recipes tab, switch to the Chats filter, swipe the chat left to reveal the trash icon, tap it, then confirm Delete.
An inventory item	Open More → My Inventory and tap the trash icon on the item.
A grocery list item	Open the Groceries tab and tap the trash icon on the item.

Items removed this way are deleted from our servers immediately. Your account and other data remain intact.
